    Product Properties and Stability:

    1.It has the chemical reaction characteristics of tertiary alcohol. It is easier to dehydrate than tertiary and secondary alcohols, and it is easy to generate chloride by shaking with hydrochloric acid. It is not corrosive to metal.

    2.It can form an azeotropic mixture with water, water content 21.76%, azeotropic point 79.92°C. Adding potassium carbonate to the aqueous solution can make it stratified. Flammable, its vapour and air can form explosive mixtures, can cause combustion and explosion when exposed to open flame and high heat. It can react strongly with oxidising agents.

    Product Application:

    1.It is often used as a solvent for paints and medicine instead of n-butanol. Used as fuel additives for internal combustion engines (to prevent carburettor icing) and anti-explosive agents. As an intermediate of organic synthesis and alkylation raw material for the production of tert-butyl compounds, it can produce methyl methacrylate, tert-butyl phenol, tert-butyl amine, etc. It is used in the synthesis of medicines and spices. Dehydration of tert-butanol can produce isobutene with purity of 99.0-99.9%. It is used as solvent of industrial detergent, extractant of medicine, insecticide, solvent of wax, cellulose ester, solvent of plastic and paint, and also used in the manufacture of denatured alcohol, spice, fruit essence, isobutene and so on.

    2.Solvent for molecular weight determination and reference substance for chromatographic analysis. In addition, it often replaces n-butanol as the solvent of paint and medicine.
