Product Description:
Malononitril is a colourless solid (<25°C) with a boiling point of 220°C and a flash point of 112°C. Its specific gravity is D434.2:1.0488. It is soluble in water, soluble in organic solvents such as benzene and alcohol, insoluble in cold water, carbon tetrachloride, petroleum ether and xylene. Malononitrile has two cyano- and one reactive methylene, with strong chemical activity, both carbon and nitrogen atoms can carry out addition reactions; can polymerize. It is toxic, causes neurocentric disorders, is corrosive and explosive.
Application:
(1) Malononitrile is the raw material for the preparation of 2-amino-4,6-dimethoxypyrimidine and 2-chloro-4,6-dimethoxypyrimidine, which can be used to produce sulfonylurea herbicides such as bensulfuron and pyrimethamiphosulfuron, etc. It can also be used to manufacture the herbicide diflubenzuron, which is used in the manufacture of diuretic drugs in medicine.
(2) Organic synthesis raw materials. In medicine, it is used for the synthesis of vitamin B1, aminopterin, aminobenzyl pteridine and a series of other important drugs. It has important uses in dyestuffs, pesticides and other applications. It can also be used as an extractant for gold. It is now used in China mainly for the production of aminopterin, bensulfuron, 1,4,5,8-naphthalenetetracarboxylic acid and pyrimidine series products.
(3) Used in pharmaceuticals, it is an intermediate of the drug aminopterin.
(4) It can be used as raw materials for organic synthesis, pharmaceutical intermediates and organic solvents.
